Life Plan!

I just debriefed the family on my recent acceptance to Le Cordon Bleu. I’m really excited. One of my Tia’s asked me why the career change from Real Estate.

Oh believe me, I will be doing that again one day. Real Estate is another passion of mine. Cooking is one I’ve had since I was little though. I think I was like 10 when I asked my parents for an easy bake oven. I’m also going to join the Army at some point! I also want to be a nurse…. And I want to volunteer in the peace corps. I got a lot to do before I die!!! Figured I should start something tangible ASAP….

See I have this problem of not being able to sit still for too long (physically and in life). I’ve learned that it’s just a character defect of mine. I’ve also learned that I can’t have the securities and blessings in life if I don’t make long term investments in myself, my family, and pay it all forward. I have all these talents. I have a passion to help people, I have a passion to cook, I believe in my country (for not sending me to an island for being the person I’ve been), and I have a passion for real estate. I’ve taken a lot from this world. I spent the last 8 years learning business from bookkeeping to sales and marketing. I know a lot. I had to figure out a way to not sit still, make money, not jeopardize my value system or integrity, give back to humanity and this planet, and still make sure people love and trust me. Plus, I gotta reproduce (my brother and I are the only ones left to pass my fathers family name down).

Here’s My Plan: Right out of Culinary School to join the service. Then I’m going to work part-time in a kitchen after that (while I attend nursing school). Once I’m done with Culinary School, Military, and Nursing School I’m going to work part-time as a nurse and own my own catering business! Once I make money off doing both those thing’s I’ll start investing in Real Estate. Once my investments are able to produce me some positive cash flow, I’ll ship off to Uganda. Somewhere in there my partner and I will get hitched and have kids! That shit’s distracting though so he’s gotta wait! Can’t hate the man for trying though. =)

No where near being conventional, but it’s my life and I know how I want it. They ask you as a kid, “What do you want to be when you grow up? A doctor? A Lawyer? A Dentist? A Policeman?”. I said “Doctor AND Lawyer AND Dentist AND Policeman”.

I’m just kind of had a slow start. I can’t fret though. I used to be hard on myself for going through what I went through as a kid. Not getting an education. Working, what I thought were dead end jobs. If I hadnt gone through it I wouldn’t be such a self aware individual nor would I have the skills to start my catering business. No better place then here and now!

God’s plan for people really is the best road to be on. Finding the patience to listen to what it is and go through it is the hard part. I’m so blessed that he was able to get me to see it! He’s got really big things in store for me.

So that’s what I came up with. =)
